Johno’s shower singing skills do not compare to Vahe Tilbian

June 30, 2016 By

Germany recognizes the Armenian genocide. That is a huge deal. The German Parliament acknowledged that during World War 1 the Ottoman Turks committed mass genocide against Armenia.

Tilbian, an Ethiopian singer of Armenian descent, represented Armenia in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

Vahe Tilbian is on the mic today talking about his music and how he came about singing. The Ethiopian people consider Armenians one of their own, plus Johno tells Vahe that he has compared their writing and it is very similar.

Johno’s wife has told him on numerous occasions that he sings amazingly when he is in the shower. After going to Armenia and drinking all of that vodka, Johno will be able to sing and dance like Vahe.

Mariam talks to us today about making green beans. Mariam sautéed one onion, and a couple of cloves of garlic and boiled the meat. After adding a little tomato and a little preparation of a few other items, Mariam has a delicious stew.

Ani is excited to hear that Germany has recognized the Armenian Genocide. Ani also tells Johno that when his daughter is in Armenia checking out their university, that she will show her around and give her a tour. Johno’s daughter is going to visit the school for two months.

Ani and Johno talk about being kind and courteous to others. Johno hates it when he lets someone into traffic and they do not wave or anything. “I didn’t have to let you in!” Johno exclaims. It is common courtesy to give a little wave.

APBlog: Special Report from Armenia with Arthur Kababjian, son of the ambassador to Artsakh

April 10, 2016 By

Unreleased pictures from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in Armenia.

Our guest, Arthur Kababjian, provided pictures from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in Armenia.

On this week’s կենացդ հայեր Armenia Proud Podcast, Johno reviews the events of the week, particularly the renewed war with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. He gives a rousing tribute to the Armenians fighting on the front lines versus the invading Azerbaijanis, focusing on giving appropriate respect and honor to all those who continue this seemingly endless fight for freedom. He also discusses geopolitics in the area, as well as Armenian history. The show’s Armenia-based correspondent, Ani Carl Kalafian, gives a detailed overview of the situation, directly from Yerevan, emphasizing the unity and brotherhood of all Armenians dealing with these very difficult and dangerous times in the Armenian homeland.

The guest of the week, Arthur Kababjian, son of the Armenian ambassador to Artsakh, provides a unique perspective to events, straight from “the trenches.” He offers figures for the battle losses on both sides and gives analysis of the Azerbaijani offensive’s aims. Arthur describes the Armenian response, both militarily and civilian, plus gives an informed opinion about Vladimir Putin’s perspective and also makes predictions about the next phase of this terrible conflict.protest IMG_7685 2

Arthur tells about ways to help the Armenians fighting for their homeland and reiterates the need to honor the Armenians who made the ultimate sacrifice. He renders a great portrait of the indomitable spirit of the Armenian people and praises their unbreakable morale. Ani gives an inspiring plea for peace, while Johno offers a reminder of the perils of divulging secrets on social media. A great, emotional, informative show, guaranteed to make all Armenians, and those who sympathize with our plight, proud.
